MutexFirmware is an embedded engineering practice for teams building real hardware — connected devices, sensors, instruments, and the awkward one-off products that don't fit an off-the-shelf module.
The work grew out of years spent where firmware and physics meet: writing bare-metal and RTOS code for resource-constrained microcontrollers, bringing up boards with nothing but a scope and a datasheet, and doing RF research on passive UHF RFID sensing — antenna characterization, electromagnetic simulation, and the slow, careful measurement that wireless products actually depend on.
That background shapes how we approach every engagement. We're comfortable in the uncomfortable parts of a project: the timing bug that only appears at temperature, the radio that works on the bench and fails in the enclosure, the power budget that doesn't close. Those are the problems we like.
Firmware isn't done when it compiles. It's done when it survives the field.
We keep engagements small and senior — no layers between you and the person writing the code. You get direct communication, decisions written down, and firmware you can hand to your own team without a translation layer.
